Earth, July 5, 2342.

The fireworks weren’t there. Instead, gunshots were heard. “Sir, they outnumber us three to one!” The soldier told the commander. “Then it is a fair fight. (ref. Halo 3). Prepare the particle lasers. We’re taking out their warship.” “Yes sir!” replied one of his soldiers. Rushing to the armory, he remembered how this all started. Humanity is at war with an alien race, “The Remnants”. The race looked much like humanity itself, with only the shoulders, neck, head, waist, and legs differentiating. When the soldier finally got to the armory, he called for the person in charge. “6 particle beams and one grizzly tank!” “Sorry, you need to go to the war factory for that grizzly.” Replied the person in charge of the armory. “This is the war factory, right?” “Yeah, but the vehicles are over there.” “Let’s move, men! You sissy girls look like my grandma!” shouted Tim at his marines. “Ready… Aim… Ceasefire!” Joe was training his scouts how to use a sniper rifle. “Do you even listen? I said ceasefire, and you destroy the target. Don’t make me show your heads to the commander.” Tim’s team moved out to destroy the Type 47 Orion class troop carrier. Joe, leader of the Erebus Team, will support Team Hephaestus, which is Kieron’s team. “Charge!” Kieron ordered his soldiers. “How much supplies do we have, commander?” general Vinn asked. “No more than 30 days, sir.” Commander skeelful replied. “Then it’s time” the general answered.

Chapter 1 [A]:

Planet Vitsohn, July 6, 2342 20:05 hours

“Ah, the wonders of Planet Vitsohn.” a crewman said as he was looking out of the window. “This planet is the only one Earth’s got with such magnificent flora, good climate, and a peaceful tune of the surroundings.” replied the other. BOOM! The ground shook, as the planet was hit by a Type 56 Plasma cannon, nicknamed Kronos. It got it’s name from it’s destructive power, which is capable of destroying a planet in an hour. “Protocol Alpha 107 engaged. All passengers of the Spring’s Threshold evacuate to the nearest airlock. Life pods launching in 10 minutes” the man over the PA announced. The life pods launched, but only 46 out of 108 life pods survived. “Sir, they’re out. Only thing is, how do WE get out of here?” commander Peter asked.

“Doesn’t matter. We’re going with Spring’s Threshold. Are the engine crewmen still here?” the general replied in turn. “26% of the engine crewmen left, but the rest knew their duties. We still have access over the BRG, but crewmen in charge of weapon reload have left.” commander said. “And the marines?”

“Most left, some stayed. (Sudden shake of the Spring’s Threshold) Sir, they’re assaulting us!” commander exclaimed. “How heavy?” general questioned. “Hardcore, they’re using the airlocks with their fighters and some of their carriers. Should I prepare the BRG? Or should I shoot them with the gauss? Or what about the Zeus cannon, sir?”

“Nay. Prepare our defenses. Engage subspace.”

Beneath the ground of Vitsohn, a secret military project was in progress. They called it the Hades project, which was in charge of creating heavy armor and weapons without risking overheating or rate. The armor they made was entitled “The Golemn” which was entirely capable of withstanding 1,017 rounds of .50 cal ammunition. It’s shields recharge every 5 minutes, and deplete in 15 minutes if under heavy fire. However, on the negative side, it reduced the user’s speed by 26%. They made 3 primary weapons, and many others. The first and strongest was the M43, the successor of the M42. The M43 fired a maximum of 10 rounds, which can be recharged by 1 shot every 20 seconds. The second was the M56-D, a handgun which can deal damage beyond the limits of almost any weapon if dual wielded. It can be merged into a rifle by sliding the top of one into the other, then moving the second handle forward, and finally rotating the first. The ATS, or automatic transformation system, starts when the procedure is complete. The third, which is also the weakest of the three, is a plasma firing weapon capable of semi-automatic fire. It is entitled the Type 106 Accelerative Plasma Projector, also called “The Round Clean”, which from the name itself, puts a round clean through anything it passes through when at automatic fire. At first, it fires one round per 1.192 seconds, then increases by 0.472 shots per second. It has enough battery to get to full auto, as it carries 11,079 kilowatts per battery. 10 kilowatts is equivalent to 1 battery point, in which the weapon consumes 1.7 battery points per second. The deadliest, but not the most efficient.

The Spring’s Threshold accelerates as its warp drives are engaged. Will they make it? Find out in the next chapter, idiot.

Chapter 1 [B]:

Sol system, coordinates X:492 Y:7782 Z:1305 01:35 hours

The Anomaly

“What’s this anomaly all about? I mean, what is it?” asked one of the crewmen. “It’s supposed to alter something related to reality, but I don’t know what.” replied the other. “All crewmen report to your stations. We’re taking this into subspace.” The Sentinel, the class 87 core containment cell, warped into subspace.

Planet Bi, the twin planet 01:46 hours

The Sentinel arrived at Planet Bi. “Bring him in” John A. Dockman exclaimed. His job is pretty obvious. “What do you think about it, sir?” questioned Com. Pete. “It’s perfect. Report about Earth?” Gen. Vinn replied in turn. “They’ve destroyed the troop carrier, but scouts have reported numerous stealth starfighters.” “The marines haven’t fixed your new ship yet. You’ll have to go with the Spring’s Threshold.” “But…! *sigh* Aye aye, sir.” The dialogue went on. “And commander…” “Yes sir?” “Bring these documents to Team Erebus.” Well, from now on, I’ll be changing the format into an easier, more understandable format.

Chapter 2

Planet Bi, 04:28 hours

Joe: Tim, wake up!

{Tim starts tapping snooze button on his alarm clock}

Joe: Wake up, lazy bones!

{Tim’s tapping gets faster as CpkCamel talks}

Joe: (slaps Tim) Wake up!

Tim: I’m awake! How do you think I smashed that button asleep?

Joe: General called for us, Deck 3 Section Gamma. He said he needed us pronto.

Vinn: (over speaker on alarm clock) That’s an order.

Tim & Joe, in chorus: Yes sir!

{When they get to the ship’s bridge and into the control room}

Vinn: I have a very important assignment for you, Camel. You shall command your team (if they live, that is) into the Remnant’s camp, infiltrate their ranks(which is where they’re supposed to die) and steal their plans for the new Overdrive destroyer.

Tim: And me?

Vinn: Go take a vacation.

Joe: Wait, why him?

Vinn: You do get more salary.

Joe: Sounds fair. So, when do we get started?

Vinn: Good question. Now. (Flips switch on control panel)

{Joe falls through floor, but lands safely}

Joe: Troops, we’re moving out.

Station 24, Zeta sector of Sol system 05:34 hours

{Com. Skee in his bed, sleeping}

Vinn (O.S.): Commander, we need you for a special assignment.

Pete: (snoring)

Vinn (O.S.): WAKE UP!

Pete: (still in bed) Didn’t you give it to Kieron?

Vinn (O.S.): Just get up here before I demote you.

Pete: Oh, alright… (Whispers to self while changing clothes) Why does he have to be the general?

Vinn (O.S.): Because I made this story, remember?

Pete: Fine.

Spring’s Threshold’s Control Room, 05:40 hours

Pete: What is it?

Vinn: Just take Camel to the newly discovered planet, Nimbus. It is not yet considered as a planet, because of, you know, it’s nimbus-like shape.

Pete: Why me? Why won’t he just take a fighter?

Vinn: Good question. (Pushes button on control panel, live video appears)

Fighter Bay section L-14

{Fake cricket screeches and tumbleweed rolls}

Back to control room

Vinn: Go.

Pete: When?

{PX flips switch, Skee falls through floor but lands on face}

Pete: Owww….

Alien Headquarters, unknown location

Vank Sor’con: (in alien language, English translation) Prepare for the attack.

Samothius: Yes sir.

Chapter 3

Spring’s Threshold, Deck 3 section Alpha

Joe: (while walking) Where could Skee be?

Pete: (still on floor) I’m… Right… Here…

Joe: Get up!

Joe: I’ve been waiting an hour for you, you know.

Pete: You should be respecting me as commander, you know.

Joe: (sarcastically) Fine, sir.

Pete: So, where’s our ride?

VM: Here, sir.

{Sgt. Camel prepares magnum and sniper, Skee takes out a cookie from his pocket and munches it}

{Pete, Joe, and Vergel get into Hawk troop carrier}

VM: Here we go.

{Hawk rises, bay doors open}

Outer space, just outside of Spring’s Threshold 06:12 hours

{Sgt. gets up, slides metal slab blocking window}

Joe: Only a few… More… Minutes…

Pete: So, why did I have to come with you, anyway?

Joe: General told me to tell you to establish a camp on Nimbus.

Pete: A one-man camp?

{Sgt. shows mini-radar to skeelful08}

Pete: Hostiles?

Joe: Negative.

Nimbus, 06:15 hours

Pete: Interesting. This is actually made of light. (Thumps ground) Well, it’s bottom at least.

Joe: Well as long as we don’t fall through it, I’ll walk past.

Pete: (staring at sun-like figure in the middle of the ring, then checks his PDA) That “sun” in the middle is where we go.

Joe: Great. How do we get there?

Pete: Scanner shows that that “thing” isn’t made out of light nor heat, but of a luminous metal. There’s a portal not far from here, but radar shows hostile Remnant forces on the way.

Joe: How do we get back? (Grabs sniper rifle holstered on his back)

Pete: There’s a portal inside that structure that leads to any random place on Nimbus.

{After fighting some Remnant patrols, an incoming call came to Skee’s PDA.}

Crewman (O.S.): Sir, coordinates locked. Doubt the settings will last for long.

Joe: Wait… That was the Anomaly, wasn’t it?

Pete: Yeah, what’s your point?

Joe: Nothing, you just said a portal.

Pete: Let’s just get there before the settings change to default again.

The Sentinel, at the Nimbus 06:34 hours

Pete: Let’s go.

{Skee and Camel enter the Anomaly, then find themselves in black space}

Joe: (cut off by sudden appearance of the inside of the structure)

Pete: There. (Pointing to a portal) Your assignment I to go through the third portal and investigate what happened after the first group of recon scouts and scientists went through.

Joe: Fine. Wish me luck! (Goes through portal)

Pete: Hope he breaks a leg. Literally.

FC-048 (O.S.): Commander, we need you at the Sentinel.

Pete: Roger.

Unknown swamp, Nimbus 0635 hours

Joe: …

{Screeches can be heard in the distance as he goes further}

Joe: (turns around in reaction to the strange noises he heard, but finds nothing.)

Joe: (remains silent)

{He goes through rest of the swamp, only to find a strange structure with strange goo on the on the corners of the ceiling}

Joe: (examines goo) (whispers to self) Impossible…

    Not bad, your portrayal of the human Headquarters is kind of like the scenes in D.Gray-Man in the Headquarters of the Black Order. (Translation unsure, since it’s a Japanese anime) Comedical-ishy.

    One complaint would be that the chunk of text describing the various weaponry systems and whatnot is extremely painful for me to read, so I just skimmed that part.

    Paragraphing is VERY IMPORTANT! That, and it allows people to differentiate between different speakers easier if you don’t want to end all your “speaky” sentences with ‘ ,” he said/whatever’.

    But overall, not bad for a casual writer.

    Go PX Go! Whee!

    Good luck,
    Emrise
